"Trombone Essentials" represents an attempt to provide the serious player with an enjoyable repertoire for recital and contest. Because there is little music for the trombone which precedes the 20th century, this collection fills a void by providing interesting music from the Baroque and Classical periods. "Trombone Essentials" contains 11 complete works transcribed specifically for trombone and piano, along with some selected unaccompanied music that works splendidly on trombone. All but one of the songs are playable on tenor and bass trombone (one song is specifically for the bass trombone), and each song is accompanied by a brief introduction and history.
